The president conveyed: “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”

In response, the president has ordered all U.S. flags to be flown at half-staff.

As of now, the status of the shooter remains unknown, with no confirmation of an arrest.

Original report:

A shockwave reverberated across political lines on Wednesday following the shooting of conservative Christian figure Charlie Kirk during a Turning Point USA event in Utah. Kirk, aged 31, was hosting a Q&A session with students at Utah Valley University in Orem when the incident occurred. Initially reported as alive but in critical condition, his status has since been updated.

Confusion surrounds the arrest of a suspect at the scene, as later reports clarified that the individual detained was not the shooter. The assailant remains at large.

Charlie Kirk, a prominent conservative voice and co-founder of Turning Point USA, is well-known for his engagements on college campuses, often debating liberal students on various issues.

The discussion leading up to the shooting revolved around the topic of trans-identified individuals involved in mass shootings.

Responses from U.S. officials, both Republican and Democrat, continue to pour in following Kirk’s shooting.
