In a recent gathering at the White House, a group of faith leaders met with President Donald Trump to offer prayers and discuss the concerns facing believers across the United States. This meeting underscores the administration’s commitment to religious matters and the role of the White House Faith Office.

Pastor Samuel Rodriguez, who heads the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC) and serves as one of President Trump’s faith advisors, was among those present. The White House Faith Office aims to provide the President with counsel on religious issues, particularly focusing on the defense of religious freedom.

During the prayer session, Pastor Rodriguez petitioned for divine guidance to help President Trump promote “an agenda of righteousness and justice, truth and love.” He also prayed for the President’s protection.

Expressing gratitude for the chance to represent Christians and the Latino community, Pastor Rodriguez remarked on his collaboration with Paula White, who leads the faith office. He described the opportunity as an honor.

However, not all reactions were positive. Paula White is a polarizing figure in some Christian circles, criticized for her association with the ‘prosperity gospel’.

Author and evangelist Justin Peters voiced his disapproval on X, stating, “This is being led by Paula White, one of the most egregious & obvious false teachers ever to disgrace the name of Christ.” He further commented, “I may vote with a false teacher, but I will never, ever, under any circumstances, pray with one or participate in any spiritual endeavour of any kind with one.”

Conversely, some offered a more conciliatory perspective. Pastor Malachi O’Brien responded to Peters, suggesting that divine activity transcends individual opinions: “Jesus is moving in this nation with whom he chooses and how he chooses … regardless of your opinion. You are missing the beauty of what He is doing. Instead of making these moments a moment of attack … how about praising God for what is occurring.”
