“When I think about the potential cutting of SNAP benefits, making it harder for children and seniors to afford groceries… these potential cuts are going to undermine that progress in my city right now,” Bibb explained, referencing Cleveland’s efforts to tackle homelessness through initiatives like “A Home For Every Neighbor.”
Despite agreeing with the aim of Trump’s tariffs to revitalize U.S. manufacturing, Bibb stressed the need for a well-strategized approach to avoid adverse effects on consumers. “I’m all for making sure we have a tariff policy that’s focused, targeted,” he stated, aligning with efforts to bolster domestic production, especially for vital components like semiconductor chips.
In navigating these complex challenges, Bibb remains committed to advocating for Cleveland’s best interests, irrespective of political alignment. “My job as mayor is pretty clear. Fight for Cleveland every day, regardless of who’s in the White House,” he asserted, emphasizing the importance of bipartisan collaboration to address urgent issues like the national housing crisis.
