Trump Plans to Sue WSJ Over Article on Epstein Relationship

Trump Threatens Legal Action Against Media Over Epstein Article

In a striking development, President Donald Trump announced his intent to file a lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal, News Corp, and Rupert Murdoch. This decision follows the publication of an article discussing the President’s ties with Jeffrey Epstein, a controversial figure.

President Donald Trump speaks during a meeting with Bahrain's Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa in the Oval Office of the White House, Wednesday, July 16, 2025, in Washington.

According to the article, among the materials examined during a past investigation of Epstein was a 2003 book of birthday letters. One such letter featured a signature reading “Donald,” which The Wall Street Journal attributed to Trump. The letter humorously referenced “secrets” and concluded with the phrase: “Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret.”

Trump vehemently denied the article’s claims, labeling them “false, malicious, and defamatory.” He stated that both the Journal and Murdoch were cautioned against publishing the story, under the threat of legal action.

On Thursday evening, Trump took to Truth Social, asserting, “The Wall Street Journal, and Rupert Murdoch, personally, were warned directly by President Donald J. Trump that the supposed letter they printed by President Trump to Epstein was a FAKE and, if they print it, they will be sued.”

The President’s connection to Epstein has been a point of contention, with many supporters urging transparency regarding case-related files. Last week, Trump and his administration declared that there were no additional files to reveal.

Despite this, Trump later promised to disclose more documents concerning the Epstein case. This follows a backlash from some supporters over the administration’s handling of the evidence release process. Epstein, who faced federal charges of sex trafficking minors, died in jail in 2019, with his death ruled as suicide. Nevertheless, suspicions persist among some individuals who believe his death was orchestrated to prevent him from exposing the involvement of influential men in the sexual exploitation of minors.

In a recent Truth Social post, Trump declared, “Based on the ridiculous amount of publicity given to Jeffrey Epstein, I have asked Attorney General Pam Bondi to produce any and all pertinent Grand Jury testimony, subject to Court approval. This SCAM, perpetuated by the Democrats, should end, right now!”
