In a significant diplomatic event, representatives from Ukraine and the U.S. are convening in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to discuss avenues towards resolving the conflict initiated by Russia in 2022.

This marks the first dialogue between the two nations since a tense confrontation in the Oval Office, where President Trump and Vice President Vance criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy last month.

Following this incident, the Trump administration suspended military support and intelligence sharing with Ukraine. In response, President Zelenskyy has been focusing on strengthening ties with Europe and extending diplomatic efforts towards the U.S., demonstrated by sending his chief-of-staff, Andriy Yermak, to engage with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and national security adviser Mike Waltz in Jeddah.

“We’re very open, and we want to have very constructive, friendly, partner conversation with our American partners,” Yermak stated in Jeddah, emphasizing the necessity of security assurances to prevent future aggressive acts.

This dialogue unfolds as both Ukraine and Russia continue to engage in significant drone attacks on each other’s territories.

This is a developing story that will be updated.
