Small Business Experience Under Scrutiny in Pennsylvania House Race

Scott Timko, aiming for a seat in the Pennsylvania House representing the 12th District, emphasizes his small business background as a key qualification for the role. However, financial issues linked to one of his enterprises have come to light.

Timko, who is partaking in the August 18 special election, has expressed his commitment to reducing taxes and regulations, telling the Butler Eagle that his economic strategy revolves around maximizing personal income retention. “The best thing for the economy is for people to keep as much of their money as possible,” he stated.

Timko and his wife have owned several dining establishments in Cranberry Township, among them Vocelli Pizza and J. Gumbo’s Cajun. They also operated GotGumbo LLC, a limited liability company.

Public records from the Butler County Prothonotary reveal that both Timko and his wife were subjected to a tax lien of $32,174 each due to GotGumbo LLC’s financial liabilities. By July, the business’s tax debt had escalated to $42,471.

While the company has a history of tax issues, it has settled $18,877 in liens between 2021 and 2024.

Additionally, Timko has acknowledged having a small airplane, with records suggesting its registration might be under GotGumbo LLC. He mentioned in February that flying offers a cost-effective travel option compared to driving on toll roads. “I have a small plane,” he remarked. “It’s almost cheaper for me to fly to Harrisburg than it is to drive on the turnpike.”

In this election, Timko faces opposition from Democratic candidate Brandon Dukes.
