Democrats set for majority as key races remain undecided in Congress

Anticipated Democratic Majority in Congress: Key Races Still Unresolved

The Democratic Party is on the verge of securing a robust majority in the upcoming congressional session. Although the final composition is yet to be confirmed, several races remain unresolved, leaving the exact distribution of seats in question.

Some of these undecided contests are taking place in California, where candidates from the same party are vying for the same seat. While it’s certain which party will claim these seats, the individual winners are still unknown. In other regions, races remain too close to declare a victor, or vote tallies are incomplete, prolonging the wait for final results. As noted by experts, delays in vote counting are a routine aspect of the electoral process.

Pending House Races Awaiting Results

The Associated Press continues to monitor several House races that have yet to be called. These races are critical in determining the overall balance of power in Congress.

Senate Races in Alaska and Mississippi Remain Undetermined

In the Senate, two pivotal races in Alaska and Mississippi are still unresolved. Alaska’s unique ranked-choice voting system means that if no candidate garners a 50% majority, additional rounds of counting could occur later in the month. Meanwhile, in Mississippi, the process is slowed by the need to count numerous provisional ballots, known locally as affidavit ballots. The margin between the leading candidates is currently less than 2,000 votes, indicating a tight contest.
