Democrats Demand Trump Delete Posts Suggesting Death Penalty for Vets

President Trump’s Social Media Posts Spark Controversy Amid Calls for Accountability

Recent social media activity by former President Donald Trump has prompted a strong reaction from Democratic leaders in Congress. The posts, which suggest severe penalties for certain Democratic veterans, have been described as dangerous and incendiary.

In a video shared on Facebook by Democratic lawmakers, members of the military and intelligence communities were urged to reject illegal commands. The video features notable figures such as Reps. Jason Crow, Chris Deluzio, Maggie Goodlander, and Chrissy Houlahan, alongside Sens. Mark Kelly and Elissa Slotkin.

President Trump responded on Truth Social, labeling the video’s message as “really bad, and dangerous to our country.” He further described the lawmakers’ actions as seditious, suggesting they should face severe consequences.

The lawmakers mentioned in the video have defended their stance, emphasizing their commitment to their oath to protect the Constitution. They released a statement asserting, “We are veterans and national security professionals who love this country and swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. That oath lasts a lifetime, and we intend to keep it. No threat, intimidation, or call for violence will deter us from that sacred obligation.”

House Democratic leaders, including Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, have demanded the removal of Trump’s posts and urged Republican counterparts to denounce the inflammatory rhetoric. “We unequivocally condemn Donald Trump’s disgusting and dangerous death threats against Members of Congress and call on House Republicans to forcefully do the same,” they stated.

Trump’s posts have yet to be deleted. White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt clarified that Trump’s comments were not intended as a literal call for execution. Leavitt criticized the media focus on Trump’s reactions rather than the content of the original video, suggesting that the Democratic lawmakers were advocating for defiance of lawful orders, posing a threat to national security.

The Democratic video did not specify any particular orders that should be disobeyed but highlighted concerns about the Trump administration’s approach to military and intelligence personnel. They encouraged service members to uphold their duty to the Constitution, concluding with a historical reference to Navy Captain James Lawrence’s words, “Don’t give up the ship.”
