Remembering T.K. Carter: A Versatile Talent in Film and Television
DUARTE, Calif. — The entertainment world is mourning the loss of T.K. Carter, an actor best known for his roles in the horror classic “The Thing” and the TV show “Punky Brewster.” Carter passed away at the age of 69.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported that deputies found Carter unresponsive on Friday evening in Duarte, California. While the cause of death remains undisclosed, authorities have ruled out foul play.
Born on December 18, 1956, in New York City, Thomas Kent “T.K.” Carter grew up in Southern California. He started his career in stand-up comedy before transitioning to acting, eventually landing the role of Nauls the cook in John Carpenter’s 1982 film “The Thing.” This role marked a significant milestone in his career.
Carter also became a familiar face on television with his recurring part in the 1980s sitcom “Punky Brewster.” His filmography includes notable appearances in movies such as “Runaway Train” (1985), “Ski Patrol” (1990), and “Space Jam” (1996).
Tony Freeman, Carter’s publicist, shared his sentiments in a statement: “T.K. Carter was a consummate professional and a genuine soul whose talent transcended genres.
