Trump Administration Rejects Pride Month, Proposes Family Month Instead

The Trump administration has announced it will not be participating in Pride Month celebrations. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt emphasized President Trump’s commitment to being a leader for all Americans, irrespective of their background or beliefs.

Meanwhile, some Republicans are pushing for alternative observances. Congresswoman Mary Miller has proposed a resolution to designate June as Family Month. This proposal is aimed at promoting traditional family values and countering what Miller describes as the radical left’s attempts to “erase truth” and “redefine marriage.”

In a statement to the Daily Wire, Miller articulated her stance: “The American family is under relentless attack from a radical leftist agenda that seeks to erase truth, redefine marriage, and confuse our children.” She further stated, “By recognizing June as Family Month, we reject the lie of ‘Pride’ and instead honor God’s timeless and perfect design. If we truly want to restore our nation, we must stand united to protect and uphold the foundation upon which it was built — the family.”

Her initiative has garnered support from organizations such as Moms for America, the American Family Project, and the Family Research Council.

This decision marks a departure from Trump’s previous approach. During his first term, in 2019, he used Pride Month as a platform for an international campaign supporting the decriminalization of homosexuality. He stated on X (formerly Twitter), “As we celebrate LGBT Pride Month and recognize the outstanding contributions LGBT people have made to our great Nation, let us also stand in solidarity with the many LGBT people who live in dozens of countries worldwide that punish, imprison, or even execute individuals on the basis of their sexual orientation.”

In his current term, President Trump has reinforced his administration’s stance on gender, issuing an executive order that the US recognizes only two genders: male and female.
