Trump Advocates for Release of Epstein Files Amidst GOP Pressure
In a surprising development, President Trump has publicly encouraged House Republicans to approve the release of the Epstein files, asserting, “because we have nothing to hide.” This statement was made in the context of ongoing debates about the files related to the late Jeffrey Epstein, which have attracted significant attention from both political parties.
On Sunday evening, Trump took to Truth Social to once again label the issue a “Democrat Hoax” designed to distract from what he termed the “Great Success of the Republican Party.” In the same post, he mentioned that the Justice Department is currently conducting an additional investigation focusing on Democrats connected to Epstein at his behest.
Despite his recent comments, Trump has been under considerable pressure from within his party to fulfill a campaign promise to disclose investigative documents concerning Epstein. This situation has caused some tension within the GOP, notably leading Trump to retract his support for Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has been a staunch advocate of the release vote, as reported by NPR.

Despite the administration releasing thousands of private files to the House Oversight Committee, the Justice Department continues to withhold some documents, including key witness interviews. The House, with participation from several Republicans, has scheduled a vote expected on Tuesday to decide if unclassified files held by the government should be released, as per a source familiar with the legislative calendar.
The next steps remain uncertain, with the Senate’s position on the matter yet to be determined. If both chambers agree to the files’ release, Trump will need to authorize the final decision.
