Unexpected Seltzer Surprise: High Noon Recalls Mislabeled Cans
Imagine reaching for an energy boost and instead finding yourself with an unexpected alcoholic kick. A packaging error has led to a recall by High Noon, a popular vodka seltzer brand, due to some of their 12-packs containing cans mislabeled as Celsius energy drinks.
Consumers in several U.S. states, including Florida, New York, and Ohio, are advised to check their High Noon vodka seltzers. Between July 21 and July 23, packs were distributed that may contain mislabeled cans. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a recall notice for these products.
High Noon’s recall involves their “beach variety packs,” which might include cans filled with vodka seltzer but labeled as “CELSIUS® ASTRO VIBE™ Energy Drink, Sparkling Blue Razz Edition with a silver top,” according to the FDA.
Understanding the Mix-up
While Celsius and High Noon are distinct brands, they share a packaging supplier. This supplier accidentally sent empty Celsius cans to High Noon’s facility, leading to the confusion. As a result, some consumers might have purchased a pack expecting a refreshing, non-alcoholic energy drink but instead received a can of vodka seltzer.
Celsius has advised customers to verify the lot number and lid color on all their Astro Vibe cans, regardless of whether they were purchased in a variety pack. The affected products can be identified by specific codes, and a silver lid, as opposed to the standard black lid, is a key indicator.
Consumer Guidance
The recall affects specific production lots, identified as L CCC 17JL25 14:00 to L CCC 17JL25 23:59, and L CCC 18JL25 00:00 to L CCC 18JL25 03:00. More details can be found in the FDA’s announcement.
Customers are urged not to consume the mismarked products to avoid “unintentional alcohol ingestion.” For further information and potential refunds, affected consumers should contact High Noon Consumer Relations at consumerrelations@highnoonvodka.com.
