Renowned ‘Sopranos’ Actor Vincent Pastore Passes Away at 80
In a career that spanned decades and left an indelible mark on television and film, Vincent Pastore, well-known for his role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on “The Sopranos,” has passed away at the age of 80. The actor, famous for his portrayals of mobsters and tough guys, was discovered at his home on New York’s City Island after being out of contact for several days.
Bob McGowan, Pastore’s manager since his time on “The Sopranos,” confirmed the news of his death on Saturday. The information was relayed to McGowan by Vincent Curatola, another actor from the show. “He was the most loyal client and he always gave to charity,” McGowan remarked. “He was the kind of guy who would help anybody, which is rare in my business.”

Pastore’s acting career began in the 1980s, with roles in significant films such as “Goodfellas” and “Awakenings” in 1990. His most memorable performance was his 30-episode portrayal of “Big Pussy,” a close friend of Tony Soprano who becomes an FBI informant, on the critically acclaimed series “The Sopranos.”
Born in the Bronx and raised in New Rochelle, New York, Pastore served in the Navy during the Vietnam War before attending Pace University. He leaves behind a daughter, Renee Pastore.
