Shine Your Light Campaign Surpasses Outreach Expectations During Festive Season
In a remarkable display of community engagement, the “Shine Your Light” Christmas campaign has successfully surpassed its outreach goals, sharing the gospel message with over 3.5 million individuals.
Initially, campaign organizers aimed to connect with 2 million people through diverse events such as carol services, open-air sermons, and even a prison broadcast. Churches nationwide responded enthusiastically, striving to mobilize 200,000 Christian witnesses, as detailed in their plan.
As the festive period concluded, data revealed that 1,832 events organized under the campaign reached an impressive 3,531,871 people, marking a 10.4% increase from the previous year. Over 300,000 Christians participated in these outreach efforts.
The campaign gained significant endorsements from public figures, including His Majesty King Charles III, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, and Tory leader Kemi Badenoch.
The National Day of Prayer and Worship (NDOPW) spearheaded the initiative, attributing the campaign’s success to prayer’s effectiveness. A continuous 72-hour online prayer session was conducted from December 12-14 in a “Digital Prayer Chapel.”
Pastor Jonathan Oloyede, founder and convenor of Shine Your Light, expressed his gratitude for the campaign’s unexpected success: “We have been deeply humbled and genuinely overwhelmed by the extraordinary response from churches across these Isles.”
He further stated, “From England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland to communities across Ireland, believers stepped forward with incredible faith and unity. The level of participation, scale, and impact far exceeded anything we anticipated, and we give all the glory to God.”
In their vision for 2025, the campaign aimed to mobilize 200,000 Christians to reach 2 million during Christmas. However, after reviewing 1,832 outreach events, they reported an astonishing reach of 5,531,871 people by 308,730 Christians, a 207% increase from 2024.
“Behind every number is a story. We are hearing inspiring testimonies of ordinary believers – many who once felt unable or hesitant to share their faith – now stepping out boldly as lights in their communities,” said Oloyede.
Additionally, Winchester Cathedral reported a surge in attendance with events throughout the season drawing large crowds of visitors and worshippers.
