Jim Desmond’s Campaign Involves Controversial Temecula Mayor

Republican candidate Jim Desmond is actively campaigning for Congress with Jessica Alexander, the mayor of Temecula, who is known for her polarizing statements regarding COVID mask mandates and the LGBTQ community.

In a Facebook post dated July 12, Desmond expressed gratitude to Mayor Alexander for her participation in a door-knocking event supporting his campaign. He stated, “Your leadership and commitment to our community mean so much.”

Back in 2021, amid her tenure on the Temecula City Council, Alexander stirred controversy by equating her choice to forgo wearing a face mask to Rosa Parks’ historic refusal to surrender her seat on a segregated bus. During a town council meeting, Alexander remarked, “[Parks] finally took a stand and moved to the front. I’m getting pushed to the back of the bus.
