Michigan’s 10th District Race: Candidates Linked to Controversial Prosecutor
The race for an open seat in Michigan’s 10th District features two Republican candidates, Mike Bouchard Jr. and Robert Lulgjuraj, both of whom have connections to the controversial Macomb County Prosecutor, Peter Lucido.
Bouchard’s campaign has garnered financial backing from Lucido, while Lulgjuraj has experience working directly under him in the prosecutor’s office. Notably, their association with Lucido persisted even after multiple allegations of sexual harassment were made against him.
In 2020, during Lucido’s tenure in the Michigan Senate, a reporter named Allison Donahue confronted him about his link to a Facebook group threatening Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. Lucido’s controversial response involved a comment about a group of male students that left Donahue feeling “objectified and humiliated.”
Shortly after, Democratic state Sen. Mallory McMorrow, now a U.S. Senate candidate, filed a complaint against Lucido, alleging inappropriate physical contact and comments on her appearance. “It was deflating after running a campaign for a year and a half,” McMorrow told WLNS.
Similar allegations surfaced, including from lobbyist Melissa Osborn, who recounted to Michigan Advance a comparable encounter with Lucido. A state Senate investigation deemed these accusations credible, and Lucido lost his position as chair of the Senate Advice and Consent Committee in March 2020.
Further allegations emerged from County Judge Lisa McCormick, claiming inappropriate conduct by Lucido during a 2019 meeting. Despite this, Lucido was elected as Macomb County prosecutor in November 2020.
By 2022, new investigations were launched into claims of harassment within Lucido’s office, with accusations of derogatory comments about women and discriminatory remarks about Black people.
Lucido secured reelection in 2024, and Lulgjuraj, who had supported his campaign, was appointed as an assistant prosecutor.
In July 2025, Lucido launched a super PAC endorsing Bouchard and officially supported his campaign in March.
Bouchard expressed gratitude on X, stating, “Grateful to have the support of Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido! Pete has spent his career protecting families across Macomb County. Together, we’ll keep fighting to make Michigan’s 10th District the best place to live, work, and raise a family, and we’ll always put Michigan first.”
Bouchard and Lulgjuraj are set to face off in the Republican primary on August 4, alongside Democratic candidates Tim Greimel, former Pontiac Mayor, and prosecutor Christina Hines.
