Trump Nominates Lance Schroyer as New ICE Director Amid Scrutiny

Trump Nominates Lance Schroyer to Lead ICE Amid Controversy and Leadership Changes

In a move that follows significant scrutiny of immigration enforcement strategies, President Trump has announced his intention to appoint Lance Schroyer as the new director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This nomination comes after Todd Lyons stepped down as acting ICE director in May, leaving David Venturella in temporary charge.

Schroyer, whose credentials include time served as an Oklahoma state trooper and a U.S. Marine, is described by Trump on Truth Social as a “PATRIOT with real operational experience, and proven leader with DECADES of experience locking up the worst of the worst.” Trump emphasized Schroyer’s dedication, stating, “He LOVES the men and women of ICE.”

Should Schroyer be confirmed, he will be working closely with Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Markwayne Mullin, another Oklahoma native, to enforce the Trump administration’s stringent immigration policies. Mullin, who shared his support for Schroyer’s nomination on the social media platform X, remarked on Schroyer’s extensive law enforcement background, highlighting, “With over 29 years of law enforcement experience, Lance will play a vital role in helping deliver on the President’s mandate from the American people to target, arrest, and deport illegal aliens.”

Presently, Schroyer holds the position of senior adviser to Mullin, where he oversees immigration enforcement coordination, as stated by DHS. Both Trump and Mullin are advocating for a swift Senate confirmation process, as ICE has not seen a Senate-confirmed director since the Obama era.
