Paul Pelosi Involved in Hit-and-Run Incident in California
In a recent event that has drawn attention, Paul Pelosi, husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was involved in a hit-and-run accident in California. The incident took place in Yountville, Napa County, a region renowned for its wine country, and resulted in significant damage to a parked car.
Authorities reported that on Friday, Pelosi was driving his brown convertible when he collided with a legally parked vehicle. Although no injuries were reported, the Napa County Sheriff’s Office noted that Pelosi briefly stopped before leaving the scene, prompting a potential misdemeanor charge.
A witness to the incident promptly contacted 911, and soon after, sheriff’s deputies located Pelosi approximately a quarter of a mile from the collision site. They observed noticeable damage to the front of his vehicle. Pelosi reportedly admitted to the deputies that he was aware of hitting something but was unsure of the specifics.
Importantly, it was confirmed that Pelosi, aged 86, did not have alcohol in his system at the time of the accident. Nevertheless, the sheriff’s office has referred him to the Department of Motor Vehicles to evaluate his fitness to drive, a standard procedure for senior drivers.
As no injuries were reported, Pelosi was not arrested. The sheriff’s office has recommended he face a misdemeanor charge for leaving the scene of an accident. An inquiry for comment from Nancy Pelosi’s staff went unanswered.
Paul Pelosi has a history of driving-related charges. In 2022, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DUI charges in Napa County, receiving a sentence of five days in jail and three years of probation. He served only two days in jail, with good conduct credits accounting for two more days, leaving a single day served through a courthouse work program.
As part of his probation, Pelosi attended a three-month driver education class and installed an ignition interlock device in his vehicle. This device requires a breath sample to ensure sobriety before the vehicle can be started. He was also ordered to pay approximately $5,000 in victim restitution and nearly $2,000 in fines.
In a separate incident in the same year, Paul Pelosi was assaulted and seriously injured in their San Francisco home.
